How to Format a Microsoft Word Resume Properly
How to Format a Microsoft Word Resume ProperlyIf you are looking for some assistance with your resume and it's formatting, perhaps this article is for you. In this article, I am going to explain how to format a Microsoft Word file properly. There are many reasons that you might want to format a Microsoft Word file yourself. If you need to make the formatting simple and easy to read, that is one reason. Many people do not like all the fonts and graphics that are put into Word. So if your resume needs to be made less of a mess, you might want to take a look at this article to see how to do it.The first thing you are going to need to do is open the document up in Word, either by right clicking on the document, or by choosing to open the document in Wordpad. Once you have opened it, and you are using Microsoft Word 2020, then it is time to open up your Font Guide from your Fonts menu. The Font Guide is also referred to as the Basic Font Guide and will come up when you select 'Format' from the File menu. From the font guide you can easily edit any font that you want to use, which is important because Word does not understand any external fonts, such as OpenType or TrueType. So in order to add these types of fonts, you will need to make an adjustment to the preferences.Next, you are going to want to go back to the document in Microsoft Word, choose the tab from the Format menu, and choose Change As Type. You are going to want to make sure that the font size is set to whatever the current font is set to, and then choose another font for the header. This will allow Word to make it easier to see the heading of the document, so you don't have to squint at the document to read it.In the last step, you are going to want to go back to the document and you are going to want to press the Alt-Tab button from the last page up, so that you can go back to the previous page of the document. In this final step, you are going to need to put a white space on the top of the heading, and for this, you are going to want to go back to the top of the document. Press Ctrl+O and you will be able to cut and paste the text into the opening heading of the document. In this way, you can remove the white space from the top of the heading and then move to the next part of the document. By doing this, you can format a Microsoft Word document more easily, and it will also make it easier for you to quickly edit the text and make it easier for your resume to be read.
